e-Learning

Being on the Internet is AWESOME!

It lets you discover an incredible new world. Being smart, safe and enjoying being online both at school and home are an important reality. When a child enrols at Queenstown Primary School, parents sign on the behalf of their child the ICT User Agreement. This is displayed in all the classrooms and the classroom teacher will share with their class what it means to be an ICT and eLearning user at QPS.

What is e-Learning?

The Ministry of Education eLearning Action Plan for Schools 2006-2010 describes eLearning as having the power to transform the way we learn. It is about exploiting technologies in everything we do and using ICT effectively across the curriculum to connect schools and communities. eLearning can provide accessible, relevant, and high-quality learning opportunities so that every student is better able to achieve their full potential. (The Ministry of Education publication, 'Enabling the 21st Century Learner') From the New Zealand Curriculum:

"Schools should explore not only how Information Communication Technology use can supplement traditional ways of teaching but also how it can open up new and different ways of learning" (Ministry of Education, 2007)

Every classroom at QPS has ICT tools the children can use to support their learning. These tools include desktop computers, laptops, iPads, activeboards, touch screens and cameras.
